Nov 17 - Texas State at Texas Tech - A perfect weather day in Lubbock drew two teams ready for one tough game. Tech's women have been a powerhouse in Texas Women's College Rugby for a few years. However, this fall has seen more than half the team consisting of first-time players. Even so, the Red Raiders pulled out to lead at the half, 12-5.
Texas State showed their heart and determination, though. They excelled at the breakdown in the second half and were able to bunch up the Tech defense. The holes created allowed State to find themselves in-goal four more times to come away with the 27-19 win.
State's coach, James Summers, seemed please with his team's performance on Saturday. He relishes the positive start, but states, "We still have a lot of work to do going forward to improve our technical skills."
Texas State's next match is hosting Texas A&M on February 2, 2013. The women of Texas Tech have accepted an invite to the USAR College 7s National Championships in College Station on Nov 30-Dec 1.

Nov 17 - LeTourneau University at Midwestern State - The Mustangs of Midwestern State had plenty of forewarning that LeTourneau would play them tough and upfront. They were prepared for LeTourneau to do so, but they didn't expect the Yellow Jackets to park in MSU's half of the pitch for the first 30 minutes. During that time, LeTourneau struck first, dotting an unconverted try and slotting a surprise (to everyone) drop goal! MSU finally got on the board near the half with a converted try, but halftime found them behind the first-year visitors, 8-7.
With the wind at their backs, the Mustangs took control of the game in the second half, but only because they remembered the first half and respected LeTourneau's capabilities. MSU came away with a win, 46-8. MSU's Coach Rod Puentes warned the rest of Lonestar North, "LTU will win more matches this season. All (they) need is more game time and they will be a force to deal with in the North Division."
Nov 17 - UT-San Antonio at Angelo State - UTSA won this one handily, 34-5. The Roadrunners' scrumhalf, Nick Stevens, led the scoring drive with a hat trick. His efforts also garnered him Man of the Match honors from the coaches of both sides.
