St Edward's vs UTexas

What happens when you put a mountain ram and a longhorn bull in a pasture together? Nothing good, that's for sure.

While the RuckBottom game of the week is LSU v Texas A&M, I think we are remiss if we do not pay special attention to the match-up of St Edward's University and the University of Texas at Burr Field in Austin, TX on Saturday at Noon, CST.

What's so special about this game other than what has already been said? For St Ed's, this is the work-up match to their pinnacle match against Rice next weekend. For UT, this match is about building depth in preparation for five hard matches in the ARC XVs Championship.

UT's outgoing Head Coach, Butch Neuenschwander, realizes that they have four matches between now and the ARC season to create the necessary depth.  Coach Butch has stated that he will "not looking at the scoreboard,(but) looking for players who display the teamwork, fitness and passion required to play at the highest level."

St Ed's Assistnat Coach, Brannen Ellyson, perceives this match differently. He wants to win and states, "The UT game is a big deal for us, we respect them, we honor them, and we treat it as one of our biggest test of the year, every year."

Coach Ellyson props SEU's top-scorer, Zach Chodenicecky as the player to watch. This wing has just come off a red card for a tip-tackle and is itching for a line break. Coach Butch says we need to keep an eye on prop Adrian Ruiz. Ruiz scored his first try against TCU and wants to make an impact.

Keep an eye on this match. It promises to be a barn-burner!

UT Rugby was in attendance on the Lake Travis v Westlake friendly. The Lake Travis Man of the Match was presented with a souvenir UT jersey from the College 7s National Championship tournament.
