UTSA decides NOT to play in SWC next season.

The University of Texas at San Antonio RFC (UTSA) notified the Southwest Collegiate Rugby Conference (SWC) today that it has decided NOT to join the SWC at this time. UTSA RFC stated in a letter from Club President, Ryan Rackley, that it wants to commit more time to strengthening their structure and organization before becoming a D1 college team.

UTSA played strong in the Lonestar Conference this year and made the conference playoffs for the second year in a row. The Roadrunners enjoy a large student body to recruit athletes, very nice playing fields, and also have supported the growth of women's rugby on campus. With opportunity and organization like that, it should not be long until they revisit a move to D1 college rugby.

This decision leaves the SWC with six teams for the 2013-2014 season: Rice, Texas, Texas Christian, Texas St, U of Houston, and U of North Texas.
