April 2013 - I am writing on behalf of a very talented group of young ladies, the University of Texas Women’s Rugby Sevens team. This Sevens team of 15 was hand picked from 40 eligible UT rugby players and will be competing at the Collegiate Rugby Championships (CRC) in Philadelphia, PA. Over 100 colleges compete for a seed at this event, and only eight receive invites. UT is currently ranked #4 in the nation after a dominating performance at the USA Rugby Collegiate Sevens tournament last November. Their hard work and success earned them a spot at the CRC Invitational Tournament.
The team will travel to Philadelphia on May 30th where they will begin their physical and mental preparation. The next three days will be jammed packed with team building activities, video sessions, recovery workouts and high intensity matches. This is a great opportunity for each player. For those of you that don’t know, Rugby Sevens will be in the 2016 Olympics. Coaches are currently recruiting the next Olympians, one of whom just may be a Longhorn.
We are asking local businesses to please consider becoming a UT Women’s Rugby Sevens sponsor to help defray the travel costs for the team and each individual player. Since the sport has yet to become NCAA, the costs for equipment and travel are the responsibility of the team. We hope by acquiring sponsors, we can decrease the stress of finances and focus on playing rugby. We are offering 2 donation plans:
T-Shirt Sponsorship ($250)
Sponsorship commitments must be sent by email between now and April 15, 2013.
Thank you in advance for your support. We hope this is not too large of a request; of course, any support you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to contact me if you should have any questions.
Cheers,
